Lunch & Learn Transcript:
Hi everyone, this Lauren, your CopyDoodles Success Coach. Welcome to today’s CopyDoodles Lunch and Learn. Today’s topic is going to be the Not So Secrets of CDAC, and when I talk about CDAC I’m just referring to the CopyDoodles Access Club. It’s easier for me to refer to it that way than saying the whole name.
I’m just going to show you a few tips and tricks that are in the CopyDoodles Access Club that you should definitely be referring to, and then let’s get moving on. I’ll start with a few side notes, like I normally do, and then I’ll talk to you a little bit more about what we’re going to discuss today.
A few side notes, if you want to ask any questions here’s how: go to the question box on your Go2Webinar screen and you can type your question in there. If it’s a question that pertains to what I’m talking about at the moment I’ll answer it right away, if not we always have a question and answer section at the end too.
Next week’s topic, if you’d like to join me August 31st at noon we will be speaking with Dan Creeks [assumed spelling]. I actually spoke with him a few weeks ago about his CopyDoodles Swipe file entry, which is a really awesome entry. He’s just going to be talking about the entry. I’m actually going to show you a replay of the interview I had with him. He discusses what he did and gives some really, really great tips on helping you create your copy writing and placing CopyDoodles on any of your pages. So, you won’t want to miss that.
Then, of course, it’s time to get your party hat on for this week’s Deal of the Week. So, every week, if you weren’t here last week, if you attend my Lunch and Learn webinar you will be able to access our member-only Deal of the Week. Today’s deal are our CopyDoodles Niches. We have 20+ CopyDoodles Niches you can add to the CopyDoodles Access Club. I’ll be showing you a little bit more about them today.
In order to streamline things today, I’ve decided that everything I give you today I’m just going to give you one link to go to: https://www.copydoodles.com On that page I’ve already combined all the links that we’re going to talk about today. So, you can go directly there after the webinar, during the webinar, during Q&A, and access those links.
Today’s topic, like I said before, are the Not So Secrets of CDAC. We’re going to start each Lunch and Learn session with an introduction to the Big 3. These are the three important topics I’m going to cover in today’s webinar. Today I’m going to talk about home page secrets that will managing your membership simple. I’m also going to talk about the quick and easy way for searching and downloading that most users don’t know about. And, then the three hidden treasures of CDAC and how you can use them to enhance your marketing and make more money.
For those of you who are on the webinar some of the techniques I discuss in the beginning may simple pretty basic, but I’m also going to be showing you some really advanced stuff during the three hidden treasures section. So, make sure that you have a notepad out or that you’re ready to follow along with me on your screen. Like I said before, I give all the links that I refer to at the end, so you can do everything that I’m doing today after the webinar. It actually is really advanced, so I was a little nervous getting on today’s webinar because I’ve only done some of these advanced techniques a few times. I’m hoping that I don’t mess up and everything runs perfectly for you. You know how technology can be.
Moving on, let’s talk about #1, which are Homepage Secrets. So, let me open up my CopyDoodles Access Club. I’m going to log in. I’m just going to show you some things on the homepage screen that you should know about and you should refer to.
Like last week, since I am recording, I’m doing all of this stuff at once, sometimes the CopyDoodles Access Club runs a little slow when I’m talking.
Here is the homepage of the CopyDoodles Access Club. I just want to show you that on the left-hand side are a ton of membership options that you can access. Here’s an easy way to change your password.
Then I get a lot of people a lot of times on live chat just asking me how they can update their membership options. You can really easily do that right here on the screen by clicking on ‘My Options’. So, you can change your access level, or anything like that right there.
Really briefly, because last week we talked about All About Color and I showed you how to do everything in color, you can set your default color for CopyDoodles here. Right now I have it set to this blue, but if I wanted to change to red I just click on the color that I want all of my CopyDoodles to download in, and it will change my default color.
Then another really helpful thing that we have on the membership page of the CopyDoodles Access Club is a download count. So, if you’re tracking how many downloads that you’ve downloaded today, or you just want to track how many downloads you’ve downloaded as you’ve been a member make sure that you refer to this, because I get a lot of people talking to me on chat asking, “How many did I download today?” “How many CopyDoodles did I access?” I don’t know that, but you know that by looking right on the homepage of your screen.
Then a really helpful thing in the CopyDoodles Access Club is right here in the middle we have an overview. If you ever forget how to access anything or where to go when you first log in, just play this video. It’s a really short, quick video that shows you how to access everything on the page. Then we always have our most recent blog posts directly underneath, so make sure to check those out the next time you log in if you’re ever looking for any tips on doing your marketing or anything like that.
Then going back to the slide, I want to go pretty quickly because the advanced techniques I’m going to show today are a little in-depth, so it might take a little bit of time.
Next, I’m going to be showing advanced searching, downloading, and executing. So, let me go back into the CopyDoodles Access Club, so I’m already logged in. What’s really helpful is that we have an advanced search that a lot of people don’t know about. So, you can easily search in the search bar right here on the left, you can search for arrow, or something like that and it will come up, all the arrows will come up.
If you want to make sure that your marketing matches, like one really good tip is to make sure that all the fonts are always the same whenever you’re creating CopyDoodles because it will always look consistent. It will look like only one person has written on your page and things like that. So, you want to make sure that you’re always looking for BeckyDoodles, if that’s what you’re using. Then you can easily just come to our advanced search. You can search by date and see which CopyDoodles are new. You can search by media.
Today I want to search for CopyDoodles, and I definitely want to look for BeckyDoodles. Let’s say I’ve put some BeckyDoodles on my page already and now I just want to see if there’s any BeckyDoodles that say the word ‘free’. And then if you do have any niche editions you can also search directly in the niche editions too. I’m not going to do that right now.
Let’s just say that I want to look for the word ‘free’. I can perform an advanced search. It will pull up all of the BeckyDoodles, as you can see this is all the same font that have the word ‘free’ in them. Now I know that my marketing will match. I know that everything will look consistent. I know I won’t have any issues with anything.
Going back to advanced search — you can also just search for comics in here, which is really great. You can also do that along the top here. But, say I want to look for a comic that has the word ‘sale’ in it. So, here are all of the comics that have the word ‘sale’ in it. They come up really clear and really easy.
Another thing that you should note when you are searching for things in the CopyDoodles Access Club, so say I go back and I’m searching for arrows in CopyDoodles, you see these tiny little dots that are on the left-hand side that say “CD” in blue. We also have dots that say “CF” in red. Let’s see if I can pull one up down here.
OK, say I’m looking for CopyDoodles that are arrows. I notice that there’s an arrow here that I like, but it has a CF next to it. What that means is that it’s actually CopyFlash, that it’s not a CopyDoodles. So, if you go to try to download that, and click on it, it will make noise, it will have sound, and you won’t be able to import it into your Word documents.
I get a lot of questions from people who are trying to download CopyDoodles and they don’t understand why they can’t use the CopyDoodle, it’s because it’s actually a Flash document. All of the CopyDoodles that are CopyFlash we also have as doodles, so if you find that problem just look for the same arrow you were looking for and just simply download it in a CopyDoodle instead of a CopyFlash.
Moving back to the PowerPoint slide I’m going to move onto the three hidden treasures in the CopyDoodles Access Club. The first hidden treasure that I want to show you is our Resources section. This is a really valuable section of the CopyDoodles Access Club site that a lot of people are not taking advantage of. Above the green bar that you have in your CopyDoodles Access club, if you click on the section that says “Resources” and pull up everything here — this is a really great area that you should be checking out on a monthly or weekly basis. If you haven’t ever been to one of our CopyDoodles Success webinars, or maybe you have and you’d like to see one of the webinars again, or you’d like to just download the transcripts, this is where you can do that.
You can come over here, you can check all of the people that we’ve ever interviewed. What our Success webinars are — we speak with really successful CopyDoodles users who are doing some awesome things with CopyDoodles. They’re just regular business owners, like you. They’re not anybody doing anything really advanced. Most of them do their copy doodling on their own, they’re the one who does it. So, that’s really great to check out these webinars and teleseminars and download them, because they’ll give you a lot of really ideas with what you can do with your marketing and what you can do with CopyDoodles.
We also have a very helpful section of the Resources section, which is the CopyComic thumbnails. All of the time I get people who go into our CopyComics and they say that they can’t read the captions underneath, that it’s a little hard to view them. Well, you can download a PDF guide that shows you larger scale thumbnails of every single comic we have in the CopyDoodles Access Club. So, all 500+ comics are here. You can download it, you can print it out, and then you simply scroll through and look through the comics to see if there’s one that you’re looking for.
Next, I also want to show you our Deal of the Week. Our Deal of the Week are our CopyDoodles Niche Editions. The CopyDoodles Niche Editions are a section of the CopyDoodles site that you can get as an add-on. We have over 20 different Niche Editions. The site where you can see all of our CopyDoodles is www.CopyDoodles4.com
Basically, like I said, we have 20 different niches that you can get as a add on. We have furniture CopyDoodles, we have bowling CopyDoodles, we have restaurant — if you come to this website you can easily just click on any of the niches that you’re interested in, such as dental, scroll down, and you can actually see a preview of everything that you would get if you were to add this to your CopyDoodles membership. So, here are all the dental CopyDoodles that you can get added.
These are just specific to your niche. Obviously not everybody is going to need a tooth, or something like that for their marketing piece, but these are a great way to add things to your postcards, your sales letters, or anything else you’re sending out.
Before I started this webinar I actually added a bunch of niches to my CopyDoodles Access Club account, so that I could just show you a little bit on how you access them if you were to add them.
During today’s special it is $97 to add your first niche edition, and then the price goes down after that. Again, the link is at https://www.copydoodles.com Our niches are really great because I added some of my favorite here. PetDoodles, I think, is actually the cutest one that we have. It’s got little band-aids, and animals, and bones and stuff that you can any of your marketing pieces. This is for veterinarians, or groomers, or anything like that. Some of our more popular niche editions — we have some real estate niches, some tax niches, financial niches. And these are just doodles that you can use specifically for you and specifically for your business.
You access them directly on the homepage, and then there’s also the big buttons on the right-hand side and then along the green bar.
I’m getting a few questions in. Dean, I’m not sure what AC stands for.
But, Barbara, we do not currently have a niche edition for doctors or health. If you send me an email I’d love to work with you to see exactly what you need, because with doctors and health we didn’t launch one yet because there’s so many different types of doctors, we were afraid we’d be missing out on something. We have DentalDoodles right now, and we also have ChiropractorDoodles, but we don’t have anything specifically for doctors, because we just didn’t want to come up with — we didn’t have a doctor to work with, and we didn’t want to come up with doodles that wouldn’t apply to them in their field.
So, that we can move on I’m going to answer the questions at the very end, since I’m getting a ton about the niches. Then, I’ll show you how you can access them and how you can add them to your account and stuff like that. If you have any other questions make sure to add them in as we go along.
So, next I’m going to move onto to the advanced CopyDoodles technique that I wanted to show you today. This actually answers your question, Pat, about using CopyFlash versus CopyDoodles. Let me just begin by showing you what are CopyFlash are. As you know, and you’re probably used to, CopyDoodles are just set graphics that you can pull and place on your documents. There’s no movement, there’s no sound. They’re just colored graphics that you place on anything that you like, whereas our CopyFlash, if you click on them, they have movement and sound.
Let me just click on one of these. You probably couldn’t hear the sound, but what happens is if you saw the movement of the ‘Wow’ CopyDoodle across the screen you saw that it looked like someone was writing it. The sound sounds like somebody is writing this CopyDoodle with a magic marker. The best places to use these are in presentations, such as PowerPoint presentations, maybe you’re doing a webinar, maybe you’re doing a live presentation, or to put them on your website.
If you put them on your website I do recommend that you place them above the fold. Above the fold just means when you land on this page of your website you put it exactly above where people can view the website. So, I’d put it above this bottom bar here. You want to do that because as soon as someone lands on your website the CopyFlash will play. There’s no way to change the timing. There’s no way for somebody to scroll over it to play. It just plays as soon it loads and as soon as someone lands on your page.
What I’m going to show you today is how to download CopyFlash and how to place it into a PowerPoint presentation.
I’m going to show you how to do it into Word 2010, but there are ways you can place it into all of your documents, and I’ll show you the link on how to do that right after I show you how easy it is to do this.
I’m going to pull up a test presentation that I created for the purposes of showing you how to do this. So, here’s my test webinar presentation. If I were to view the slideshow from the beginning, I’ll show you how I actually put a CopyFlash on this slide already, so I’ll show you how it looks.
So, as you can see there was movement, there was sound, and I was able to see the CopyDoodle as soon as I went onto this slide, and as soon as I started the presentation. It’s really easy to add these in. It seems a little complicated the first time that you do it, but it’s really not that hard.
So, the first thing you want to begin by doing is begin by downloading a CopyFlash from the CopyDoodles Access Club. They come in red, blue, or black. So, you download them in a zip file. So, I’ve already downloaded this ‘Wow’ CopyDoodle — and let me just show you that I have it on my desktop.
It comes in a zip file. If you’re not familiar with zip files, what you need to do before using a zip file is right click on the file and choose ‘Extract All’. A screen will come up asking just to confirm that you want to extract this file, and you’ll choose ‘Extract’, the file will open and your CopyDoodles will be right in here.
So, as you can see we have some SWF files and then we also have some Firefox online files. What you want to use are the SWF flash files. Just to preface this, in order for this to work you need to have Adobe Flash Player on your computer. You can get that for free by going to Adobe and just downloading the Adobe Flash Player. Most computers have it on there, but computers don’t come stocked with it on there, so you will need to download it if you don’t have it.
So, what you want to do is make sure that your CopyFlash file is in the same exact folder as the file that you are going to be using. So, all you have to do is copy this file, so I like to just cut the file, open up the folder that your presentation is in, and then paste the file in there. So, I already had it in here, it just asked me to confirm that I wanted to place it in there.
Next thing you want to do is you want to open your webinar presentation, or your PowerPoint presentation. And, you’re going to have to make sure your view is in the normal view. So, you’d click on the ‘view’ button here, you make sure that your view is normal. I have mine set default like that, but if you like to sort your slides differently then you’re going to need to go back to the normal viewing.
The next thing you’re going to do is you’re going to have to go to the File section of your computer and choose ‘Options’ down at the bottom here. After you click ‘Options’ a menu will come up. You’ll choose the button that says ‘Customize Ribbon’ and on the right-hand side here you’ll see a ton of different main tabs. One of the main tabs that doesn’t come default with your computer in Office 2010 is the Developer tab. So, you’re just going to click on this so that it has a checkmark, so you have the Developer tab, and click ‘OK’. As you can see, I now have the Developer tab here at the very top available to me in my PowerPoint.
The next thing I want to do is click on the Developer tab and then choose this little button that says ‘More Controls’, it has like a hammer and wrench, or something like that. There’s a ton of different controls that will come up, but what you are going to be inserting into your document is a Shockwave Flash object. So, you’ll have to scroll down to the bottom of this, because there’s a ton of different things you can insert into these presentations, and choose ‘Shockwave Flash object’, and press ‘OK’.
As you can see, my mouse cursor has now changed to a plus sign. What I’m going to do is click and drag, and create a box where I want my CopyFlash to be placed. As you can see this little box with an ‘X’ in the middle will come up. So, what I’m going to now do is right-click on the box and choose ‘Properties’. This large screen will come up, but what I’m going to want to make sure is correct is I’m going to put — the fact that I’m going to be playing will be true, it won’t be false.
I am going to make sure that under the Movie tab here, I find my file in my test presentation folder. See, I want to insert this blue ‘Wow’. So, I’m going to right-click on it and choose ‘Properties’. The properties will come up and what I want to copy now is the name of the file. The name of the file is Wow_blue_NS.
So, highlight it, right-click, and choose copy, and then press ‘OK’, and open your presentation back up. Go to the Movie section and click in the box where it’s blank and paste the name of your movie file. Make sure you add at the end .SWF so that the PowerPoint knows that it is a Shockwave file.
Then at the very top you’re going to want to make sure that you go to ‘embed movie’, click on it and change from ‘False’ to ‘True’, you want to make sure that you embed the movie here. Now, you’re going to exit out. Now, your Flash is ready to play.
So, what I’m going to do now is just view the slideshow to make sure that it’s working. I’m going to click ‘Slideshow’, and then I’m just going to view it from current slide. As you can see, my Flash is working and you can use it now in a presentation.
One thing that I do want to mention is that every time you watch this presentation you’re going to need to reset your Flash file so that it plays again. You can easily do this by right-clicking on the file, choosing ‘Properties’, and then in the area where it says ‘Playing’, click on that and change it from ‘False’ to ‘True’. So, just make sure that it’s true before you exit out of your file, and you save it if you’re going to do a presentation with this file on it. Now, I can just easily exit out and save. I know that the next time that I open this presentation my Flash file will play and everything will be working.
It’s a little complicated, but once you get the hang of it, and once you follow the instructions, we have some videos on our support, we also have personalized instructions available from Microsoft, it’s really, really easy to do.
So, just some tips for using CopyFlash in PowerPoint:
1. You want to make sure you always have Adobe Flash Player on the computer you’re creating the file in.
2. You want to get personalized instructions, because I showed you how to do this in Microsoft 2010, but it’s different in every single type of PowerPoint that you’re using. So, if you have Microsoft 2007, or you’re using 2003, or anything like that, the instructions will be slightly different for each computer. It really is basically the same for every version of PowerPoint, but the only difference are the type of menus that it has for you to get to the steps. So, I had to add a Developer menu, in older versions you add a menu that’s called ‘Controls’ instead of ‘Developer’. It’s just some very slight changes.
3. Make sure that the Flash file that you’re using is always in the same folder as your PowerPoint, or it won’t work, especially if you take the PowerPoint and put it on another computer, or something like that, a computer that you’re going to be playing your PowerPoint from.
To replay, like I just showed you, make sure that you reset the playing field to true — your PowerPoint will play, but your Flash will already be up there, it will not show the movement.
One other thing that I think is a little disappointing because I use a Mac a lot, this only works on a PC. Microsoft does not have this available yet for the Mac version of PowerPoint. But, for Mac if you try something like Prezi, or anything like that, it’s a really great way to create PowerPoint presentations. With Prezi you can actually do so much more than you can even do in PowerPoint, so make sure to check that out. It’s really easy to do, I mean step-by-step instructions.
Then, also, I’ll show you after Q&A where you can get all of the links I showed you today, along with some more support.
