Lunch & Learn Transcript:
Hi, everyone. I hope everyone is doing great. I see a lot of familiar faces — welcome. I’m glad you came back for today’s webinar. I hope everyone is enjoying the second last day of summer. If you don’t know, Friday is the official first day of fall. I’m already prepared. It’s one of my favorite seasons, so I’m super excited.
I’m going to be begin, just a few side notes, if you want to ask a question here’s how, you just click the questions box. You type your questions in and send it over to me. If it pertains to what I’m talking about at the time I will answer it right away. If not, or if it’s a more in-depth question I will answer during our question and answer section at the end of this webinar.
A few more side notes, next week’s topic will be tips from the CopyDoodles Swipe File vault. If you picked up the Swipe file you may have heard this interview I had with
Jerilynne already, but if not it’s definitely one that you’re going to want to tune into. We had a lot of fun on the call and I think you’ll definitely enjoy it. So, if you’re registered for today’s webinar, and you are since you are on the call, you will just automatically get a reminder on next Wednesday and make sure you join me.
So, it’s time to raise your glasses for this week’s Lunch and Learn Deal of the Week. I have to say this is probably the best Lunch and Learn Deal of the Week I’ve ever had on the call. That’s because one, the way that it falls, it actually pertains to what we’re talking about today, which is all about using CopyDoodles in webinars, and two it’s just an awesome deal. So, if you’re not familiar, Mike has a product called The Perfect Webinar. We have a digital version online you can access through a website that we have. Basically it talks all about using webinars in your business. It covers a ton more of
in-depth tips than I’m going to give you today, because I’m just going to be talking about using CopyDoodles in webinars. This tells you basically how to do it and what you’ve got to do.
Normally, it’s $97, but we’re offering it for only $27, which is pretty crazy. So, this goes along perfectly with what I’m going to be discussing on today’s webinar. Mike will go in-depth, like I said, talking about creating webinars for your business and how you can profit with them. He’s been doing it for years. He’s made over $1 million in webinars. You can find more at our site, www.ThePerfectWebinar.com
This deal, if you’ve headed over already to www.CopyDoodles.com/blog it doesn’t start until Friday, September 23rd. It will start at Midnight. It’s kind of like a Groupon deal. So, what will happen is there’s a website that we’re hosting this on called, www.SuccessEtc.com if you’re not familiar with it. Our deal goes up at $27 at Midnight and throughout the day the price will gradually increase. So, you’ll want to make sure you check out, you bookmark the page and you make sure to go there that morning, if you do want to pick this up. It’s a really great offer.
If you’d like to see a replay of using CopyDoodles in webinars, the replay will be posted up at www.CopyDoodles.com/blog I’ll give you the link again at the end. It usually gets posted up either later today or tomorrow morning. I’ve just got to edit it really quickly, put it up, and then transcripts will be available probably by the end of this week.
So, like I do always, we’re going to start each Lunch and Learn sessions with an introduction to The Big 3. The Big 3 are the most important things I’m going to cover in today’s webinar.
One is: Why you Should Be Using Webinars To Maximize Your Business. If you’re on this call you probably know that you should be using them, or you probably are already using them, so congratulations to you. But, I’m just going to really briefly cover why you should be using them and how you can use them.
Then I’m going to talk about What CopyDoodles To Use To Maximize Your Webinar. We have a few in the CopyDoodles Access Club site that would be perfect for you. So, I want to make sure that you know about them.
Then I’m going to give you Tips For The Best Placements Of CopyDoodles In Your Webinar. I’m going to show you webinars we’ve done in the past, so that you can basically take those ideas and use them for your own business.
Why webinars? You’re on a webinar, so maybe you already understand why you want to use webinars. So, many people are visual. They need to see it to believe it. Webinars are also a really great way to do demos of your products, like us with CopyDoodles. We do a lot of demos, I show you demos on the Lunch and Learn. People a lot of times don’t understand the way products work, or the way things work, unless they can see it and they can hear you. If you’re marketing to people that are all over the world, or all over the country, or even locally, and they don’t have the time or can’t come into your business, then this is a great way to reach them and sell to them.
So, you can capture people in two ways, they see what you’re saying and they also hear what you’re saying. I’m a very visual person, and most people are visual people, but seeing stuff and hearing stuff and then being able to read it, like I put on this page right here, you’re reading also what I’m saying, so you’ve got a connection in more than one way, than just speaking on the phone with someone, or just talking to some one person.
You build credibility and a relationship with your audience, speaking always positions you as an expert. A lot of people are very basic. You are probably a guru in your area, so what you know most people probably don’t know. Even though it seems basic to you, most people probably don’t know it. So, you could put a webinar on talking about very basic things and you could have a ton of people come to your webinar, they trust you, they trust you more than your competitor, who might be doing the same thing, but isn’t doing webinars. It’s just a really great way to build your list and build your customers.
It’s just another media you can reach perspective customers on. Maybe you’re using email, you’re using direct mail, some people love video, and some people love attending webinars. This is just another way you can reach people. Seriously, it’s easy, obviously I do it every Wednesday, but it’s simple to do, it just takes a couple minutes out of your time to talk to and reach your audience. Like you guys can, you can ask me questions and I can answer them directly here.
How Can You Use Webinars? You can use them in online sales presentations or events, education, like I do these Lunch and Learns, you can use it [to build] relationships with your prospects, you can even create info products — that’s actually what The Perfect Webinar started out as. Mike did a webinar called The Perfect Webinar. He recorded it, the entire time while he did, then he created it into an info product, with transcripts, extra videos, bonuses and stuff like that. It’s a really easy way to create products if you don’t have any yet.
You can use them as paid virtual events, that’s really fun. Or, you can do anything you want. Seriously, there’s so much you can do with webinars.
So, what type of CopyDoodles should you be using in webinars? I suggest that you use arrows, check marks, and boxes, coupon borders, highlights, short phrases — because if your phrases are too long then you’re trying to get people to pay attention to your product, you’re trying to get people to pay attention to what you’re talking about and teaching them. You don’t want a long CopyDoodle phrase to distract them from that.
Webinar Doodles, and I bolded that, because I’m going to show you we do have a special section of Webinar Doodles in the CopyDoodles Access Club site. You can use CopyFlash, and I talked a lot about CopyFlash on a webinar a few weeks ago, and I’ll give you the link for that later, so that if you don’t know how to add Flash to your presentations you can do that. Comics are a really great way to use CopyDoodles and CopyComics in your webinars. Really, the possibilities are endless, you could do anything with them.
So, I’m just going to really quickly show you where you can access our WebinarDoodles in the CopyDoodles Access Club. I’m going to log in. So, you log in to the CopyDoodles Access Club, and if you go over to CopyDoodles and hover them, scroll all the way down to Volume 19, we have a whole collection of WebinarDoodles. These are doodles specifically for use in webinars. You can use them on your registration pages, you can use them in your webinars. You can use them in emails that you’re sending out before and after webinars. You should definitely check here before you start adding CopyDoodles to your webinars because this might give you some really good ideas of things that you need to do, like your webinar invitation, maybe you forgot to set up an email to remind people about your webinar, and this will remind you to do that.
Webinar-Only Offer. It’s just a really great way to use CopyDoodles in webinars.
Moving back to the presentation; How Can You Use CopyDoodles In Webinars? So, you can use them on your registration and thank you pages, which I’m going to show you in a minute. I’m going to show you examples of all of these in a minute. You can use them on your title slide. You can use them to break up monotony with comics. You can call attention to sales and offers. You can circle or point to websites and links. You can use them as bullet points. You can use them in bonuses that you give out to webinar attendees. And, in your email reminders — pre and post webinar — you can use them too. We use them for everything.
So, if you’ve ever attended one of our webinars you’ve probably seen CopyDoodles throughout them.
This is a registration page in GoToWebinar. If you use GoToWebinar, like we do, it allows you to add a picture for your webinar, when you set up your webinar. It can only be 220 x 200, but as you can see I added one to my Lunch and Learn. It just is a really, really nice way to call attention to an otherwise boring page.
GoToWebinar also let’s you have a page your redirected to after signing up. So, if I wanted to have people signing up for my webinar right here on this page, they type in their information and they click Register Now, it will actually load them to the page where it says, “Thank you for registering,” and then they will be redirected to my own thank you page, where I can give them a gift for registering and I can use CopyDoodles on that or I can just put up my own thank you page and use CopyDoodles on that, just to kind of make things a little different. It might catch someone’s eye and they might remember to come to your webinar, where they otherwise may not have done.
These are title slides, these are title slides that we use for our webinars. So, this The Five Clever Ways webinar, this is a sales webinar, maybe you were on it before you started using CopyDoodles. We just highlighted the headline.
Again, here’s another webinar title slide. We love putting the flying money on the bottom. But, this is a webinar we recently did with Bill Glazer/Mike Capuzzi. We just simply added CopyDoodles to the top. You don’t need much, you don’t need to overdo it, you don’t need to use hand-written writing all over everything, but that’s just a good way to call attention and pull people in when they first get on the webinar.
Again, breaking up the monotony with comics. This is a comic we’ve used in one of our webinars. It was a sales webinar. It was just one slide, basically just this with the CopyComic on it. And, what we did was we just placed this on it and then while we were talking about CopyDoodles, and we were talking about how they could help enhance your marketing, we related how CopyDoodles can enhance your marketing to the tag line in this comic, so you could do this really in any business.
We were just talking about how your goal is to create a personal one-on-one connection with your readers and how CopyDoodles can help you do that. So, if you have any type of business you can just change the tag line on one of our comics, or you could just pull one of our comics, add it in as a slide. It just helps to break up from the normal slides you see with text, and bullet points, and so many people use clip art and other photos. It’s nice to see something different.
You can also call attention to sales and offers, like this page. What we did was call attention to the fact that we were going to be giving them a really great deal. We used the CopyDoodle ‘Very Real Value’ and pointed to the special. It’s a really great way to do that. And, then we also used a CopyStamp, you can even cross out the price and write in a new one, like I did for the special offer this week. That’s another great way, and that’s a tip that a lot of people use for order forms and things like that. In here is how I cross out the price, like I did earlier, and wrote in a new one for our special of the week.
As you can see I didn’t call attention too much and I didn’t call attention to the website on the bottom because I didn’t want it to get too cluttered. Maybe if I was doing this as a sales webinar I would create two pages, so I’d create a page first without the link on the bottom. I’d say, “Deal of the Week, Perfect Webinar Digital Edition $27,” cross out the price.
Then, what I would do next was I would create a page just for my special offer. I’d have my special offer come in. I’d put the link there and I would just leave that on the page directing people to go there for my webinar. Then I would use arrows, or I’d use a circle, or stars, or anything like that, just to call attention to the link, to make sure that people see it because a lot of people will be doing other things on their computer, while you’re hosting a webinar they may be listening in, or they might turn their back or something and they turned around and this catches their attention more than just posting a web link up there.
So, here’s a partial list of the types of business centers who can use webinars. So,
info-marketers, I put that on there because that’s mainly what we do with webinars. Then I put yoga studios because I actually know someone who is a yoga instructor who is doing some pretty awesome things with webinars. I also know someone in the holistic field who’s doing some really cool things. Just, informative webinars that teach people about using their products, that teach people about why they should be doing yoga, and then selling their services. There’s also someone I knew doing webinars who’s a car mechanic. They’re actually doing it to inform their customers and build a trusting relationship. That’s worked really, really well for them. There’s dentists, there’s doctors, there’s retail store owners, insurance agents, lawyers.
And, I actually put this slide in here, not just to show you a list of the types of business owners who can use webinars, but to show you that using CopyDoodles as bullets is really great thing to do too. It’s really easy to do. You don’t have to download one CopyDoodle and duplicate it 1,000 times and use it as bullets. I’m actually going to show you a demo right now that shows you how easy it is to add CopyDoodles as bullets.
So, let me ‘X’ out of this. I’m going to download, first, the bullet that I want to use. I’d like to use a checkmark, so I’m just going to type in ‘check’. I’m going to search for this CopyDoodles checkmark. I’m going to download it. Red is fine. I’m just going to press ‘Download’. I download it as .png file, as you can see here. You can also download it as a .jpg. It really won’t make a difference for your webinar or your PowerPoint. I’m going to press ‘OK’. I’ll ‘X’ out of this, and now let me open my demo slide that I’ve created for you.
So, here’s a slide that I’ve created just to show you how you can easily add different bullet points into your webinars and your presentations in PowerPoint.
So, what I’ve done already is I have this plain slide. I just use normal bullet points here. What I’m going to do, I’m actually going to go up to this Bullet Points section here in my menu, on the top of the PowerPoint. I’m going to click on the little arrow that’s next to the bullets. I’m going to scroll down and choose Bullets and Numbering. So, as you can see I can choose from all of these bullets, but those are boring. I don’t want to use those. So, I’m actually going to choose picture. You can also customize them too, but I want to insert a picture because CopyDoodles and the check I want to use is a picture. So, I’m going to choose Picture. So, as you can see I’ve already loaded a CopyDoodle in here, but what I want to do is press Import because that’s going to install the picture that I want to use, which is the checkmark that I just downloaded.
I choose Import. This screen will come and I saved my CopyDoodle on my Desktop, so I’m just going to head to the Desktop and scroll down until I see my checkmark. I’m going to click on it and choose Add. My CopyDoodle checkmark was instantly added as a bullet, as a picture bullet, and I can now click on it and choose OK. And, it will change my bullet point.
Now, if I want to change all of them all I have to do is backspace and change my bullet point. Just, click here if there isn’t a bullet point and then just choose the picture that I want and it will automatically change.
It’s really, really easy to do and then you ensure that all of your checkmarks or your bullet points are lined up because if I were just copying and pasting the CopyDoodle in here I probably wouldn’t get my checkmarks exact. They wouldn’t be spaced apart exactly and it would just look messy.
Another thing that I want to quickly show you while I’m doing a demo, which is how to add a CopyDoodle to a PowerPoint slide. This is really simple, if you’ve been with me on webinars in the past you probably already know how add CopyDoodles into Word or into your PowerPoint slide, but I just want to make sure that everybody knows how to do that.
So, I’m just going to open up the CopyDoodles Access Club again. I’m going to look for a line. I just want to underline the title of my PowerPoint slide. I’m going to choose the line that I’m looking for. I’m going to download it as .png — since I’m not laying on top of anything a .jpg would be sufficient too. I’m just going to press Download, save it to my Desktop again.
And, then this works the exact same way as if you added a CopyDoodle to Word. You go to Insert at the top. You choose Picture. You search for the picture that you’ve just downloaded and you insert it. All you have to do then is move it right underneath your slide.
If this actually messes up the formatting of your slide at all, all you have to do is right-click on it and either bring the CopyDoodle to the front, or send it to the back. You can also change that by choosing Format Picture and there’s some options in there.
If you’re familiar with using it in Word, then you shouldn’t have any problems at all.
This is actually a free report, John Walter sent this free report for the Swipe File book that we just came out with. This is just one of many. I don’t know if he’s actually using this in webinars or not, but this is a great way to use CopyDoodles. If you have a webinar and you want people to stay until the end of the webinar, if you offer them a free report, or a gift, or a surprise at the end, don’t tell them what it is, just offer it, tell them in the emails, tell them at the beginning of the webinar that you’re going to give them this free gift. The rate of people staying until the end of your webinar will increase.
And, that free report could be informative, but it could also direct people back to your website and your products, or your services, if you write it correctly. You should definitely use CopyDoodles in that free report.
What we like to do is direct people through a link in our webinar to the free report, but you know then everybody might not go to it, they might email you later and say, “How do I get that free report? I don’t remember the link.” Or, you can actually download a list of all of the people that attended your webinar and see which people stayed until the end and pull all of those names out and manually send them all this free report.
So, notes for using CopyDoodles in a webinar. Make sure that you stick to the same CopyDoodles font throughout your webinar. I talk about this a lot when I’m talking about writing copy and doing things on your website and things like that. But, if you stick to the same font, everything will look consistent. You won’t overdo it and it will look good. Don’t overdo it. Don’t put every slide in a hand-written font, that’s just too much and it does get hard to read if you’re constantly looking at a computer screen at a CopyDoodles font.
I talked about this when we talked about fonts a couple of weeks ago, or maybe it was even last week. It all blurs together for me. But, using Sans Serif fonts like this are easier to read and people will want to remain on your webinar. Like I said earlier, don’t use long phrases, just use short call-outs that you want people to pay attention to. Long phrases might distract whoever watching the webinar from what you’re talking about, and from what you’re trying to sell them, or tell them, or teach them about.
Make sure you’re calling out the most important parts of your webinar. So, that means your offers. That means any websites you want people to go, any free gifts that you’re giving away — you want to call that out and make sure people go and head over and download those –call those out too.
I have a ton of webinar resources that I’ve posted up at www.CopyDoodlesblog.com If you don’t have a webinar system right now and you’re not sure what to do or where to go, GoToWebinar does a free trial, I believe it’s 30 or 90 days, it’s somewhere in between there, but you can try out their webinar system, you can get some people on your webinars. Maybe you can even plan and host one webinar and see how it goes for you before you decide if you want to purchase or not.
Response Flow is a system that we use, it sends out SMS reminders, better known as text message reminders. It’s always a really good idea to send out text message reminders
15 minutes or so before your webinar, even an hour before, just to let people know that your webinar is going to be occurring, so that they don’t forget to go to it. This is something that not too many people are doing, but with SMS reminders it’s kind of cool because no matter where somebody is they’ll get that text and look at the reminder. People have their phone on them all the time. If people don’t want to receive a text message reminder, they simply just don’t put their phone number in when they opt-in to your webinar. So, you’re not going to be bothering anyone. They’ve asked for it. You can even mention that on the page where they sign up.
Response Flow also has a really great program if you use Infusionsoft. There’s actually a program that has GoToWebinar and Infusionsoft integration. That’s what we use. Maybe when you get our emails and you click a button where it says, “Join this webinar,” and it will automatically register you. You don’t have to put in your name, you don’t have to put in your email address, you don’t have to put in anything and it will automatically register you because you’re already in our system.
You can also create your own opt-in forms with thi, where when people sign up for your webinar they will not only be added to your Infusionsoft list, but they will be added to your GoToWebinar list, and that’s really cool, and very important because if you’re doing webinars to cold prospects and they sign up for your webinar via GoToWebinar the only way you could add them to your list is if you downloaded an Excel sheet and plugged all those names in manually and that is just really time-consuming. So, this easily gets people into a system. You can send email reminders and then post webinar reminders really, really easily and have them set up before you even start your webinar.
Camtasia is what we use when we’re recording webinars. If you’re creating webinars that you want to use for info products, definitely pick up Camtasia, it’s pretty, pretty cheap. It’s definitely worth it.
Evergreen Business System is a system that we use for webinar replays. So, we do have a sales webinar that’s on a replay. And, it does all of the work for us. It replays the webinar at the correct time. People sign up, they log in, and they’re able to see the webinar, we don’t do anything. We just let it go and don’t have to worry about it.
I talked a little bit before about adding CopyFlash to your webinar. I did a whole presentation on that during a Lunch and Learn on 8/24. So, make sure you check that out. And, then if you want to add CopyDoodles to emails for your pre and post reminders check out the Lunch and Learn from 9/7. And, I will show you in a second where you can find all of these webinar resources because they’re up on our blog.
Before I answer your questions, which is in one second, I just have one question that I want to ask you, if you were on my webinars, right when I first started I asked you what topics would you most like to see on CopyDoodles Lunch and Learn, but I’d just like to ask that question again, and I just launched it. If you guys could just please vote; just choose as many as you wish. I believe it let’s you choose as many [as you wish]. CopyDoodles Basics would be kind of like what I’m talking about right now. CopyDoodles Advanced is more advanced stuff, like using Flash. I could do some guest interviews; new tips and ideas, and examples of people’s marketing. So, I’ll leave that up for just a few seconds and then I’ll take it down. I’ll show you guys the results.
OK, I just shared the poll. Hopefully you can see it. As you can see a ton of you want to see examples of other people’s marketing, so I’ll make sure that I have that coming up soon. And, then a lot of you want more advanced techniques. Don’t worry, I do have a lot of advanced techniques. I’ve got to mix in the basic ones too. But, it’s good to see that you guys still want pretty much the same stuff that I knew about.
Let’s move back to the webinar. If we don’t have any questions — you can catch the replay of this webinar at www.CopyDoodles.com/blog It will posted later today or it will posted tomorrow morning. Again, all of the links that I gave here today will posted on the blog. You can also see all of our previous Lunch and Learns if you miss them.
